P. 58
Pancreas: Intense parenchymatous degeneration (cell swelling and
increase in cellular water leading to cell congestion and death), uid
congestion, general cell degeneration.
Spleen: Spleenitis infections in spleen (in ammation of the spleen,
leading in slowed function).
Brain: Diffuse hemorrhages in general suprarenal and cortical tissues
(bleeding in the outer layer of the brain’s tissue and the brain’s adrenal
gland), intense suprarenal degeneration (breakdown of a hormonal
gland inside the brain), general congestion of cerebellum.
yroid: Floccular collapse (degeneration and collapse of thyroid).
Testicles: Atrophia Testes (for male subjects, shrinking and ceasing
function of testicles).
e “G” Report by Shozo Kondo Toshu concerned the biological e ects of
glanders. Similar to the “A” Report, the number of subjects examined was
about 21, based on the amount of actual detailed reports. All subjects had
differing sur vival times, though most fell under a two-month span. From
infection onset, some sur vived for 4-12 days, while others sur vived for 15-25
days, with the remaining few sur viving for 25 days to a month. One subject
lasted 3 months before death. ere were no notes on the subjects’ names,
gender, ethnicity, or any kind of identi cation aside from their age. e age
range of the subjects averaged bet ween mid-20s and mid-30s. Although
there were no de nite genders listed for the subjects, the pres ence of testicles
being an examined organ suggests that all of the subjects were male.
In the report, there were descriptions of vivisection and procedures such
that X-Rays used before vivisections. e consistent mention of “X-rays
during clinical tests” suggests that most, if not all, of the subjects were
examined closely while infected with glanders. Vivisections examined all
